Welcome to the FLORIDA SCHOLASTIC HOCKEY LEAGUE'S "14TH.
SEASON OF EXCELLENCE". We can all look back on the accomplishments
of the FSHL's previous 13 years with great pride. With each
successive season, we continue to elevate the FLORIDA
SCHOLASTIC HOCKEY LEAGUE to new heights. Last year,
for the first time, the League joined ranks with the prestigious
HOBEY BAKER FOUNDATION to award the HOBEY BAKER HIGH SCHOOL
CHARACTER AWARD to a student-athlete from each of the FSHL’s
18 member teams. And, this year, the FSHL is looking forward
to hosting the 2 SAHOF HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (SAHOF
HS TIER I – NATIONAL BOUND – and SAHOF HS TIER
II) during the weekend of March 2-4, 2012.

True to the "Scholastic" in the FLORIDA
SCHOLASTIC HOCKEY LEAGUE, the League took great pride
in awarding FSHL collegiate scholarships to FOUR (4)
deserving students. CONGRATULATIONS to:
FRESHMAN: MARK MIDKIFF ( POMPANO HIGH SCHOOL)
SOPHOMORE: NICLAS JORGENSEN (BOCA RATON HIGH SCHOOL )
JUNIOR: JOE SHAMON (PINE CREST SCHOOL)
SENIOR: COLIN STUBBLEFIELD ( SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS HIGH SCHOOL
)
The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the ANNUAL
FSHL GOLF CLASSIC
The FSHL again awarded MVP awards to TWO (2) of its
players.

The FSHL shows its appreciation for all FSHL coaches
by awarding COACH OF THE YEAR to TWO (2) of its coaches.
CONGRATULATIONS to the 2010-11FSHL COACHES OF THE YEAR:
DIVISION I: PERRY SAN ( CYPRESS BAY HIGH SCHOOL GOLD )
DIVISION II: MICHAEL PEDITTO (WESTERN HIGH SCHOOL )
Florida, in it’s 10th. year of participation,
sent 2 Statewide High School teams to compete in the 27rd.
Annual America’s High School Showcase (formerly the
Chicago Showcase).
The Showcase provides a highly competitive national event
for elite high school student athletes to be seen by every
major hockey program in the United States (including Prep,
College: NCAA Division I & III, Juniors, and the NHL).
USA Hockey Affiliates honor their high school players by selecting
those players who represent their high school team and the
ideal of the student athlete. The Showcase consists of 24
teams (over 550 of the top players from across the USA ).
Many of Florida 's high school seniors have received offers of opportunities
from, college and Junior A and B scouts. The experience proved
to be invaluable for any player who wishes to pursue hockey
at the next level.
. The ANNUAL FSHL PRESIDENTS CUP TOURNAMENT,
the only high school sponsored ice hockey tournament in Florida
, attracts teams from around the state, the country, and Canada
.
The FSHL ALL-STAR GAME & SKILLS COMPETITION
- Trophies were awarded for:
SPEED: PAUL MONEUSE (STONEMAN-DOUGLAS HS MAROON)
OBSTACLE COURSE: MICHAEL GUTOWITZ( NORTH BROWARD PREP)
SHOOTOUT: ERIC LEVIN ( TARAVELLA HIGH SCHOOL )
FSHL ALL-STAR GAME MVP:
NORTH: JASON FAMULARO ( CORAL GLADES HIGH SCHOOL )
SOUTH: ROBERT KAPLOVE ( CYPRESS BAY HIGH SCHOOL GOLD )
Over 300 people attended the spectacular year-ending
FSHL ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET. Mr. Cliff Viner, General Partner,
Chairman of the Board, & CEO, FLORIDA PANTHERS
spoke to our FSHL student-athletes, coaches, team managers,
and parents about “character, character, character”.
Mr. Viner stayed to distribute trophies and pose for photos.
Every year marks another FSHL milestone.
In this, the League's "14th. SEASON OF EXCELLENCE",
the FSHL expects twenty (20) teams will be registered to participate
in two divisions. Through all the growth, the FLORIDA SCHOLASTIC
HOCKEY LEAGUE remains firmly committed to its goals and ideals.
The FSHL is dedicated to providing high school student-athletes
with a program that promotes academic discipline, respect
for authority and for each other, teamwork, development of
physical skills, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
The first 13 years have been exhilarating
The future of High School ice hockey in Florida is bright
indeed.
