TO ALL:
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the FLORIDA
SCHOLASTIC HOCKEY LEAGUE on an immensely successful Inaugural
HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY NIGHT,
"MONDAY NIGHT ICE" -
The success of last night was due to the hard work of a large
team of FSHL volunteers who gave of their time to raise the
awareness of high school ice hockey; to generate the excitement
and enthusiasm for HSHN at each FSHL member school -
HSHN HIGHLIGHTS:
- NINE (9) High School games on all 3 sheets
- Well over a thousand people in attendance
- The Incredible Ice newly expanded parking lot FULL - Attendees
were parking as far as Sample Road
- 14 High School team Principals - 1 Local Mayor - Gerry Cheevers
(NHL Hall of Fame Goalie & Coach) - All were thrilled
to be on hand to "drop the puck" - Assistant Principals
and Athletic Directors were also in attendance - We thank
them all for their participation and support of HS ice hockey
- All were given a 2009-10 FSHL PUCK & PATCH in an acrylic
holder to proudly display on their desk
- School representatives beautifully sang the national anthem
(Brittny Taylor - Cardinal Gibbons HS, Amy Weiner - Coral
Glades HS, the Cypress Bay HS Choir, & the North Broward
Prep Choir)
- School cheerleaders & mascots were on hand to spark
fan enthusiasm
- ALL NEW FSHL High School Team Banners
- 10' X 10' HSHN & FSHL Banners
I particularly want to thank, Ron Lieberman (CHAIRMAN - HSHN
Committee), and all of our FSHL HSHN team representatives
for their hard work -
Mark Buzek, for the outragious HSHN Logo which is proudly
displayed on all HSHN apparel, posters, printed material,
and the huge HSHN banner on the Mezzanine rink -
Mike Shannon (Shannon Graphics), for his outstanding graphic
design of the HSHN POSTERS -
And, Jeff Campol and his staff at Incredible Ice, for providng
an INCREDIBLE venue that made this such a success -
And, our thanks to Shawn Rosenthal (NBP Team Manager) and
Jennifer Simmons - The HSHN T-SHIRTS are awsome -
For those of you who don't, yet, have a HSHN T-SHIRT
or care to order addtional T-SHIRTS or LONG-SLEEVE SHIRTS,
TANK TOPS, or HOODIES (at cost), give Jennifer a call:
SimmonsJ@incredibleice.com
- 954-341-9956 X 207
And, as always, our thanks to the FLORIDA PANTHERS for their
continued support - Randy Moller's in-game and post-game promotions
of HSHN are invaluable -
And, of course, a particular thanks to my good friends on
the FSHL Advisory Committee, without whose dedication to the
League, none of this happens -
But, the season has just begun - It is now up to our HSHN
representatives the keep the flame burning at all of the FSHL
member schools - To continue to generate the excitement of
high school ice hockey MONDAY to MONDAY throughout the season
- Articles in the school newspapers, and on school tv - FSHL
promotions in both - Flyers posted around the school -
I want you all to be very proud of what we accomplished last
night for High School ice hockey in South Florida - We put
High School ice hockey and the FSHL on the map - No other
youth hockey organization in Florida has ever done anything
like it -
But, we need to continue to explore ways we can bring even
more attention to high school ice hockey in Florida - There's
still more work to be done -
Peter Pearlman, MD
President, FSHL
